Well on his way to alomst three million subscribers, it has been confirmed that George Takei is as vital to the Facebook ecosystem as its heaviest advertisers. However Takei has recently closed his Facebook account siting that he has “found other diversions.” With the sudden departure Facebook has endured instant turmoil. Membership numbers are dropping rapidly as Takei fans are scrambling to find some way to enjoy Takei’s musings. Businesses and charities that Takei has drawn attention have also closed up Facebook shop, and may not return until another celebrity powerhouse is found whose followers are completely capable in using the Facebook share functions.
It is rumored that Facebook executives including Zuckerberg himself have made financial offers to Takei to stay, however Takei appears to have no interest. So what are these other diversions? Takei intends to stick to twitter and his new favorite social media site is none other than the brainchild of the Admiral himself, William Shatner who founded My Outerspace aka myouterspace.com. The site brings together sci-fi fans and allows them to connect with one another to work on projects and of course indulge in their fandom. Naturally My Outerspace is an excellent for Takei who has received an incredibly warm welcome.
With the loss of Takei, Facebook investors continue to bail out.
