Turtle Beach, one of the world’s most well known gaming headset manufacturers announced today that they are in the process of developing a new headset designed to keep gaming youngsters from hearing or engaging in bad behavior while gaming online. TB is calling this state of the art project “The Quell.”
Parents of young gamers are between a rock and a hard place. They’re kids want to play mature rated games online but parents are concerned with the behavior it creates. Many children pick up foul language and use it regularly, they don’t do their homework and stay up very late on school nights. Now some might say these parents should just take away the games but many parents say that just creates more problems and negativity in the home. Turtle Beach has partnered with parents to create a headset that takes out the guesswork out of parenting young gamers.
The Quell will feature a real time language censor system. If the child begins engaging in foul language the headset automatically mutes the microphone. If foul language continues the headset cuts out the game audio and replaces it with classical music. If the bad behavior continues to persist, the headset will shut down itself as well as the game console or PC. Turtle Beach did announce the Quell Plus model which offers a shock treatment for particularly difficult children. Parents can also set a password protected timer for the headset to shut off the gaming system so things like homework can be done and bedtimes can be met.
